Sculpting Department
The department was established at the very beginning and soon became a generator of our plastic modernity. Today's actions are hardly reminiscent of the now diminished sources. But the generation of lecturers take care that in recent sculptural interventions the path of past is still present.
Imagination, invention, vitality are imperatives in the formation of the young generations who are taught by seven professors, three assistants and two expert associates. The first two years students spend together, and then through personal preferences form their own language through three sculpting classes and orientation of small plastic and medalry. Works created in three sculptural workshops, wood, stone, and metal are a result of this, and the department offers working with the latest materials and techniques
Through field work that takes place during the holidays in Vrsar- stone, Bjelovar-wood, Vinkovci terracotta, Našice-pottery; various ignition techniques, staining, glazing, students perform large-format sculptures in which they are assisted by professional staff. At the same time they socialize and work with already established artists with whom they share their knowledge and observations. The program of the studies through the major professional courses explores key sculptural bases but allows them the choice of a large number of elective courses through which they more firmly connect with other departments and thus strengthen their power to secure the reading and understanding of contemporary art movements.
