Poetry in Pictures – Banija Literary Anthology
Exhibition of author's posters by students of the Department of Teacher Education of the Academy of Fine Arts

Exhibition of author's posters by students of the Teaching Department of the Academy of Fine Arts.
MORE ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
"The book on which these extraordinary works of art by students of the Teaching Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb were created is one of the most important editions of last year's domestic production. " The Banija Literary Anthology" was published by the Croatian P.E.N. Center in cooperation with Meandar Media.
This anthological review of the literature of the Banovina area was created as a creative response to the devastating earthquake that struck the area a year ago. Light always emerges from the ruins and cracks, so we have witnessed solidarity towards our neighbor to rarely seen proportions, although the reconstruction of the area itself is tragically delayed.
Together with the Academy of Fine Arts, we organized a competition to present an exhibition of the most successful student works with the theme of poems and prose fragments from this book, prepared by Boris Vrga and Miroslav Kirin, and to bring us closer to this extremely valuable, but insufficiently known segment of national and regional culture. These are about thirty authors who lived and worked from the beginning of the twentieth century until the beginning of the twenty-first century.
I would like to thank the professors and all the students of the Teaching Department of the Academy of Fine Arts who participated in this joint project of ours that connects literature and fine arts. About twenty works selected by mentors involved in the project are sent to schools and libraries in Banovina, where literary workshops and performances by writers from the anthology are also held. We award the seven best art works so that students feel that their work has value because it is uncertain and brave to study at the Academy of Fine Arts today, at a time when we do not appreciate our artists enough, and the process of artistic and literary creation can be bureaucratized and subordinated to political or market valorization, so in their further work I wish them to maintain the joy and freedom of expression that is the guiding thread of P.E.N. centers in the world. “
