"SOMETHING AT THE END"
The exhibition "Cosi fan tutte na kon(op)cu" summarizes the creative process of work from the idea to the performance of the scenography and costume design of the opera "Cosi fan tutte" by W. A. Mozart, performed in May this year at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. This year, a joint opera project of five university components (MUZA, ADU, ALU, TTF and AF-SD) brought together more than 150 students, professors and theatre professionals. The stage design was co-created by students of costume design, set design, animation, stage painting, lighting design and projection design. In shaping "Cosi", the students went through the cosifantutte theatrical process – from reading and listening to the opera, meeting the director and performers, developing concepts, sketches and drawings, searching for materials and stage and costume elements, to making in scenography and costume design workshops and, finally, participating in performances.
At the end of this great adventure, an exhibition takes place. Student set and costume designers exhibit the pictorial-object sequence of work on Mozart's opera. At the end, sketches, paintings, words and artifacts hang that testify to the merging of ideas into the reality of the theatre stage where rags and threads, shoes and moustache, painter's brushes and rays of light form a unique stage image. Kon(op)ac, as the basic creative thread of both scenes and costumes, weaves and carries theatrical illusion and exhibition reality.
