Exhibition of student works, realized as part of the 8. Festival of World Literature, entitled "Illustration and Inspiration".

FROM THE PREFACE OF THE EXHIBITION

"The tasks that artists who exhibit at the accompanying exhibitions of the Festival of World Literature have been facing for years include the domain of illustration (visualization of text through visual arts), but also inspiration – the creation of a separate work of art influenced by a literary text, that is, its style and its spirit," wrote art critic Feđa Gavrilović. In this spirit, visual artists have been creating works inspired by literature for the Festival for eight years, and this year, as part of the cooperation between the Festival of World Literature of the publishing house Fraktura and the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb, student works that are also inspired by literary works are exhibited at the Šira Gallery.

The paintings and graphics of the students of the Academy of Fine Arts, inspired by the read excerpts, were created during 2020 under the mentorship of doc.mr.art. Maja Rožman, izv.prof.art. Tomislav Buntak and izv.prof.art. Danko Friščić. Earlier in the same year, in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts and Fraktura, the competition for the poster of the 8. Festival of World Literature, and the first-prize work by Mihael Kolarić became the official visual identity of the Festival and appears on all visual materials. The second and third prizes were won by the works of Ana Despot and Nikola Grabovac, and six more undergraduate and graduate students of the Academy of Fine Arts participated in the competition with successful works, the selection of which is presented in the Šira Gallery."
