Group exhibition

We are pleased to present the exhibition entitled "The Beauty of Details, Transformations and Structures – Coccolithophorids of the Adriatic", which has been presented as a double exhibition in the Šira Gallery and the Forum Gallery since August 28, 2019.

The exhibition, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb and the Croatian Botanical Society, is held as part of the 7th European Phycological Congress, which will be held from August 25 to 30, 2019 in Zagreb.

It represents a synergy of science and art that brings together scientists and artists, professors and students, modern technology and various artistic techniques.

Electronic microphotographs of coccolithophorids, which will be exhibited, were taken from samples collected in a study conducted during 2013 in the Šibenik waters and the mouth of the Krka River. The research was carried out within the framework of cooperation between the University of Uppsala, the University of Oslo, the Faculty of Science of the University of Zagreb and the Ruđer Bošković Institute. These microphotographs of coccolithophorids were an inspiration for students of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb in the artistic techniques of painting, sculpture, graphics and glass and many others.
The exhibition presents photographs by Luka Šuprah (Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo) and Jorijntja Henderiks (Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University), works by Matija Plavčić, Lucija Žuti, Matej Ninčević, Ante Perez, Karlo Ris, Ana Maria Maravić, Helena Bosnić, Tara Beata Racz, Vida Meić, Matej Vuković, Luka Kušević, Petra Šabić, Monika Milas, Lora Elezović, works by students of the Academy of Fine Arts as part of the mosaic workshop under the mentorship of red.prof.art. Milun Garčević, and students of the Academy of Fine Arts as part of the glass workshop under the mentorship of red.prof.art. Anton Vrlić.

The following exhibitions were also held as part of the congress:

  • Solo exhibition "Microscopic Relics" by Isabelle Rochemars, French Institute in Croatia, Preradovićeva 5, Zagreb;
  • Ida Blažičko's solo exhibition, August 25-30, 2019, Hotel Esplanade, Zagreb.
