30th Passion Heritage Festivities – My Experience of the Passion / Mihael Kolarić – The Way and the Truth

Solo exhibition

ABOUT THE PASSION HERITAGE

The Passion Heritage Festivities event has been held for 30 years in the city of Zagreb, and in the last ten years in other cities in Croatia (Zaprešić, Samobor, Đakovo, Jastrebarsko, Dubrovnik). It was founded with the aim of preserving our cultural heritage from oblivion, but also as an instigator of new artistic creativity in the field of literature, music, art through the holding of triennial competitions, and the results of which have resulted in a series of exhibitions, concerts and literary works that have been extremely accepted, recognized and awarded by the general public and the profession.

As a unique event, in the pre-Easter period, it strives to convey the spirit of the holiday atmosphere to its loyal audience and the public, to show our heritage and the diversity of our customs, as well as our rich cultural musical, visual and literary creativity through a series of concert performances, performances of cultural and artistic societies and folk singers, as well as art exhibitions and literary events.

"THE WAY AND THE TRUTH"

The presented paintings try to express the phenomenon of suffering through coloristic tension and narrative. Each painting brings a symbolic representation of sacrifice, temptation and manifestation of human evil and resistance to evil: it is not depicted as human resistance, but as sacrifice and adoration of God. In this sense, readiness to sacrifice signifies Christian loyalty to God. The deformation of some characters further emphasizes the manifestation of human evil, and the portraits of saints the expression of this suffering. In this sense, biblical themes warn of the eternal actuality of evil and of the threat to man's freedom and his truth.
