Valerija Djanješić / Valerija as a unit of measurement of space
Solo exhibition

FROM THE PREFACE OF THE EXHIBITION
With the work Valeria as a unit of measurement of space, I question my physical, mental and emotional states in the form of a visual monologue, showing them through the coexistence and struggle of four different Valerias. Behind each peephole there is a living space in which one Valeria lives and behaves in accordance with the environment of the room in which she resides, thus reflecting one of her character traits. With the main Valeria, the one who stays in a particular room all the time, Valeria from other rooms (videos) occasionally interact in an attempt to distract her in the existing action, disrupt plans or impose their attitude. In other words, to correct her 'flaws'. Although they are thematically and visually connected, each video can function separately, but the composition of all four videos is a work that takes place simultaneously, giving the observer the opportunity to "capture" the entire action by going around the object and observing the video content behind each peephole. At the moment of the time in which we live, when the virtual increasingly replaces the real, distance turns into an imperative, and the living space is increasingly narrowed to 'its own four walls' – I try to penetrate as deeply as possible into the core of my being, get to know all my faces and learn to live in harmony with them.
