Relationships on the Edge – a new episode of the podcast with architect Ana Boljar

The podcast Connections on the Edge is part of an artistic research conducted at the Department of New Media of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. The starting point of the project is the concept of care and reflection on the necessity of creating care procedures, which Bojana Kunst writes about in the book Life of Art, Transverse Lines of Care.

Care is observed through the weaving of bonds and the development of sensibility, sensitivity, imaginative and empathy, as well as through partiality and vulnerability. Such an understanding of care deeply questions the values of art and encourages art to come out of its own instruments of protection and security.

The podcast explores marginal practices that encounter activism, therapy, and self-organization, but also other areas of social sciences and humanities, architecture, and pedagogy. At the heart of the questions are how to think about these practices within art, whether through socially engaged practice, the medium of sound, or experimental publishing, and how artistic methods can contribute to the development and upgrading of existing connections.

In the first episode of the podcast, the guest is architect Ana Boljar. The conversation is dedicated to thinking about architecture as a form of care, the relationship between the utopian idea of common space and its realization in practice, and concrete initiatives, realizations and challenges.
